Featured Designer: Sajetta Romie Cuff

Sajetta Romie Cuff (aka CJ) was introduced to sewing as a young girl by her mother Romie Elizabeth Green, but it wasn’t until she turned 21 and her friend Juliana Medeiros introduced her to belly dancing that she truly fell in love with it. She started making simple costume pieces and quickly moved to more complicated ones and eventually it began to branch into her daily wear. Up-cycling and Re-fabrication work also quickly became passions “to me it’s not so much about coming up with something new as it is about turning what you have into something you love”. From ruffle jeans and appliqué jackets to gauged earrings and macramé jewelry she call’s herself a “Jill of crafts”. She is currently the designer for Blazing Thimbles, a home based business in Tijeras, New Mexico she runs with her boyfriend Michael O’Malley who is the glass artist of the collaboration. Inspired by Performance Art, textiles and Michael's glass she creates colorful pieces with what she proudly calls a “my crazy grandma made it” feel. She is also a Principal Dancer for the Mile High Riot, a Gypsy Vaudeville Extravaganza that will be "Preforming" her costume portion of the show

Sajetta will also being showing her designs at the Craft Punk Fashion Show on November 13.

Featured Designers: 2Day Circus!

At 2DayCircus we foster expression and individuality by providing original artwork prints on both clothing and posters, while striving to set new ethical standards by which people conduct business and ensuring that we exist because of our customer relations.

Artists collaborate to fuse art and style. Our goal is to provide customers with the capability to express their personality. We believe clothing is a canvas for displaying art. Unlike traditional logos, the clothing is used to add dimension to the printed artwork.

Our designs are hand printed on American Apparel clothing for a superior fit and finish. Clothing and prints are very limited in quantity. Everything is sweatshop free, 100% made in America and all printing is done using environmentally friendly solvents.

2DayCircus is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All screen-printing is done in-house, allowing us to create custom clothing and apparel for bands, artists, companies, sporting clubs, and the like. We also produce event posters, canvas prints, and offer many forms of graphic design. Most of our artists are available for commissioned work. 2DayCircus can design your organization’s logo, shirt, website, flyers, and anything else you need.

2DayCircus is art.

2DayCircus is quality

2DayCircus is passionate.

2DayCircus is professional.

We are Artist Collaborative.

Fiber Arts Fiesta

The Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta 2009 is the seventh biennial show dedicated to fiber arts education and to the display of fiber-related artwork. The Designer’s Lounge was asked to participate in one of the three Fashion Shows that are put on by the American Sewing Guild (ASG). I found the Fiber Arts Fiesta to be very inspirational in colors, techniques and creativity. Thank you Melissa Sonnen for asking us to be a part of this exciting event!!

Fashion Show Imbibe

This collection was inspired by the Art of Dress, measuring-tapes, pins and needles, buttons and pin-cushions were all used in celebration of the great designer’s and seamstresses of our time. The designs were feminine yet flirty and the color pallet was black and white with accents of pink (such as our logo).

There was a great turn out and we had a lot of fun! Thank you to Imbibe for having us. Thank you to Buzz Networking ABQ for asking us to participate. Thank you to all the little helpers and thank you to the fabulous models! ♥ ♥ ♥
