Lora Cunningham- The Book of Eli

For every Actor there’s the dream to walk The Red Carpet and for every Designer the dream is to have that actor wear the dress that will walk The Red Carpet...... Though the carpet was black instead of red and it was not the Oscars (not YET, anyway), it was a very exciting moment for Lora Cunningham, jewelry designer Kirk Smith of Navajo Tribe and myself!

Lora landed a role in The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington, the premier was Monday, January 11th, but what was this talented lady to wear?! I felt very honored when Lora asked if I would make her dress for such a special event.

Congratulations Lora!! I can’t wait to see the movie!

The Makings of a Red Carpet Dress

1. Initial drape- designing on the form.

2. Transfer the markings to create the paper pattern.

3. After first fitting adjustments need to be made.

4. After a few more fittings, a few more adjustments, we fit the dress in the actual fabric.
